Josie, affectionately known as Jo, is an impassioned Associate Producer for 1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture. With a strong background in Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) and a lifelong commitment to social justice, Jo brings both heart and expertise to everything they do.

Growing up in apartheid South Africa, Jo’s early experiences inspired a lifelong commitment to challenging injustice and standing up for human rights, the empowerment of marginalised communities, and the advancement of LGBTQ+ equality.

Jo is a connector at heart, a trusted point of contact for those navigating discrimination, building communities of support, and inspiring meaningful change. Their diverse skill set spans public relations, communications, data analysis, and the strategic world of EDI. Jo is also highly skilled in creating and leading thriving staff and sector networks that empower underrepresented voices.

During the pandemic, Jo’s creativity and resilience shone through as they conceptualised and produced a powerful podcast amplifying the voices of unsung heroes, a project that perfectly captures their passion for storytelling, inclusion, and community impact.

Josie is also a Board Member for UK Black Pride, the organisation behind the world’s largest free Pride event celebrating LGBTQIA+ Black and people of colour communities. Previously, they served as a Board Member for the Kaleidoscope Trust, a charity working to advance the human rights of LGBTQ+ people globally.
